This gorgeous table has so many unique features, and is sure to turn heads. It still has its bark attached, which is fairly rare, but looks great and adds some very nice contrast to the finished tabletop. There is a large natural split in the wood which I chose to secure with three butterfly joints to keep it from growing, while adding a beautiful design feature. Finally, at 5 inches thick, this massive piece demands attention. 

Even the surface of the table is unique. Once it was flattened, I sanded it with a low grit sandpaper (very rough), leaving long, parallel grooves across the surface. I then jumped up to a high grit sandpaper to smooth it out. The result is a smooth, but textured surface. Then it was finished with a blend of natural oils to bring out all the details of the wood, and topped with a wax for extra protection. This finish is food safe, and solvent free, meaning it’s safe for everyone in your home.

This massive piece of wood sits on three mid-century modern hairpin legs. These legs are powder coated in black for long lasting protection.
