This one-of-a-kind live edge coffee table was created in San Francisco’s Sunset District, and is made from a beautiful slab of salvaged cedar with steel u-shaped legs. This grain of this piece flows beautifully down its length, with several small knots dotting the surface, along with a few other unique details which add to its character.
The slab measures 1.5 inches thick, 50 inches long, and 16-17 inches wide.
Cedar Slab
This salvaged slab was acquired from a yard in Half Moon Bay, CA, leveled with a router on a sled, and then sanded through six grits of sandpaper to a silky smooth feel. Once the sanding was done, it was finished with three coats of a high quality oil based wood finish and stabilizer, and one coat of hard wax. The oil and wax is made using only natural ingredients, is food safe, and solvent free, meaning it’s safe for everyone in your home.
U-Shaped Steel Legs
The contemporary, rustic flat bar steel legs that were used for this piece were professionally handcrafted from American made steel, and cold bent using custom designed and fabricated tooling. Once complete, bowling alley wax was applied to help mitigate oxidation, and they were inspected to ensure item consistency.
